Description

Team Fishel, the Best Choice Employer in the utility construction and network installation business, is looking to hire an Accounting Manager with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and a desire to lead a results driven accounting team. This position will oversee the monthly close process and manage a team of 3-4 accountants, offering an opportunity to interact closely with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and business operation teams. Additional opportunities include enhancing internal controls, streamlining and automating procedures, and challenging the status quo. 


Skills and Qualifications:

Accounting or Finance Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university 

5+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance environment, including 3+ years of supervisory experience

Extensive knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles, including revenue recognition

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Ability to work with minimal supervision with a continuous improvement mindset


Principal Requirements and Responsibilities: 

Manage the monthly close process, including preparing or reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations.

Review area operational financial statements, determining proper accounting and expense recognition.  

Prepare financial statements, technical accounting memos, account reconciliations and other work papers.

Supervise the intercompany accounting processes, including the allocation and elimination of expenses and revenues among subsidiaries.

Manage and maintain standard cost/job cost allocation, expense recognition and accruals. 

Prepare, reconcile and analyze all insurance related accounts and premiums. 

Lead Treasury management process and products.  

Partner with FP&A to understand variances, set budgets, and help drive business decisions.

Prepare supporting schedules for financial statement footnotes and board packages.

Coordinate and manage the external audit process with independent auditors.

Maintain internal control integrity and related documentation and compliance.

Use critical thinking and attention to detail to help ensure financial statements are free from misstatement.

Work on complex issues which require input from multiple sources and innovative problem solving.

Create and/or maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all tasks performed and review SOPs to identify opportunities to streamline and automate processes. 

Assist with Ad hoc analysis and research as needed.

Supervise, guide, and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.


Preferred

Public accounting experience

Certified Public Accountant

Construction Industry experience, including job cost accounting 

Experience in Self-insurance/Captive Insurance Accounting 

Experience with Vista, Spreadsheet Server and/or Looker
